A washer and a dryer usually need two separate recall checks, even when they were sold as a pair or installed in one stack. Capture the model and serial from each unit and do not assume that a campaign covering one appliance also covers the other.
Treat the laundry pair as separate products
A washer, dryer, and stacked laundry center may use different identification systems. A laundry center with one combined rating plate can be searched as that combined product; separately manufactured stacked units should each be checked.
Capture the codes from both rating plates
- Full model and serial, including suffixes
- Manufacture or date code
- Washer type and capacity when a notice distinguishes them
- Gas or electric dryer configuration
- Software or control version only when the notice requests it
Run a washer search and a dryer search
At the CPSC recall database, search each exact model. Then search the brand with “washing machine” and separately with “dryer.” Open the detailed result and follow the linked manufacturer program. A result for a top-load washer does not establish anything about a matching-brand dryer.
Read model tables and serial intervals carefully
Campaigns may cover selected prefixes, suffixes, production ranges, or software versions. Compare the entire identifier. If an update checker is linked in the notice, use the matched appliance’s serial and confirm the result on that official program.
Keep the remedy attached to the correct unit
A repair, replacement, refund, inspection, or software action for a washer should not be applied to the dryer beside it. Follow the current instruction for the matching appliance and recheck it before service because remedy availability can change.
No CPSC match does not prove that either appliance is free of defects or correctly installed. Repeat a missing search with the model family and component name, and use SaferProducts.gov to report an incident. The appliance recall check covers other appliance categories.
