Start with packaging and installation records
Some covers have limited markings on the installed product, so preserve the box, invoice, installer record, manual, and replacement history. Collect:

- Model, package, or part number
- Size, shape, and printed flow rating when present
- Compliance and manufacturing markings
- Installation date, installer, and invoice details
Search CPSC by the printed identifier
Use the CPSC recall and safety-warning search and its swimming-pool recall collection. Search the maker and exact package or model markings. A broad search for “drain cover” can find candidates, but the detailed notice must control the match.
Compare markings and notice photographs together
Some notices identify packaging when the cover itself has no unique label. Compare all specified markings, dimensions, photographs, sale dates, and product descriptions. Do not identify a cover only from its color or from a similar-looking online listing.
A compliance mark is not a complete installation decision
The search can identify a published product action; it does not verify correct installation, service life, flow configuration, or the condition of the suction system. If the installed cover cannot be identified from records, contact the manufacturer, installer, or a qualified pool professional rather than guessing.
Handle a possible match conservatively
Keep people out of the affected pool or spa until the model and required action are resolved. Use the current CPSC instructions for removal, refund, replacement, disposal, or professional correction. Do not remove or alter an installed cover based only on a general product resemblance.
